Build your network

A useful partnership starts with a conversation.

Find agencies whose expertise complements yours. Start with a reason to connect, make the next step clear and build the relationship through the work you do together.

Give the other agency a reason to reply

A strong first message explains who you recruit for, where you work and why the connection could be useful. You may have a live role that needs another specialism, a client expanding into a new market or a candidate whose next move sits outside your usual desk.

Keep it relevant to the recipient. A short introduction that shows you have read their agency profile is more useful than a long pitch sent to unrelated businesses.

Make your own agency easy to understand

Before reaching out, complete your profile with your agency name, location, specialisms and a clear description of your work. Explain the kind of partnership you are interested in. That helps another agency decide whether a conversation makes sense.

You can create a public agency profile and use agency connections and messaging for free. Publishing your profile gives employers and prospective partners a page they can visit and share. Keep the information accurate and only publish contact details you want visible.

Build trust through specific actions

  • Be clear about your expertise. Say what you cover and what you would need help with.
  • Agree the next step. A conversation should end with an action, an owner and a realistic timeframe.
  • Keep commercial terms explicit. Discuss fees and responsibilities before progressing a shared placement.
  • Close the loop. Let the other agency know when a requirement changes or an opportunity is no longer active.

Turn the connection into useful work

When there is a relevant role, the role-owning agency can invite a suitable partner. A free agency can participate in an invited shared role; posting your own shared roles and responding to employer briefs require the relevant paid plan. See current inclusions for the full detail.

Each agency should understand who is responsible for the client, the candidate and the next update. Use the split recruitment walkthrough to see an example of how the work can progress.

A growing community needs participation

TAP is building an agency community. A profile alone does not guarantee work, a response or a placement. The useful outcome is a relevant conversation, an introduction that progresses or a partner you choose to work with again.

Start with one connection you have a genuine reason to make. Learn whether the agencies are a good fit, then build from there.
