GUIDE · EMPLOYER HIRING

Choose an agency
for the work ahead.

A useful agency comparison starts with your vacancy and what successful delivery would look like.

Define the role before the supplier

Be clear on the location, work pattern, must-have skills, employment type, salary parameters and hiring timeline. Agencies can give more useful responses when they are answering the same brief.

Look for relevant experience

Ask about comparable work, sector understanding and the recruiter who would manage your search. A broad company claim is less useful than a specific explanation of how they would approach your role.

Compare the approach as well as the fee

Discuss sourcing, screening, updates, shortlisting and your own hiring responsibilities. Check the fee basis, exclusivity, replacement terms and payment requirements together.

Agree communication and decisions

Nominate the hiring manager, agree feedback turnaround and decide what information you need at each stage. A good process depends on both the employer and the agency participating.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Turn your hiring needs into a clear brief.

Give agencies the details they need to propose their approach.
